What we’re showing
This graphic shows the top 20 countries by their expected real GDP growth in 2024. Projections come from the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) latest World Economic Outlook (Oct. 2023).
Key takeaway
Nearly all of these countries are located in high-growth regions like Asia Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa. There are a few outliers, though, such as Guyana.
Context
Guyana is a small country in South America that borders Brazil and Venezuela. It was the world’s fastest growing economy in 2022 (+62%) thanks to rising oil exports from Stabroek Block, an offshore oil field being developed by Exxon Mobil.
