Research published in 2022 by Élisabeth Vallet provides eye-opening insights into the growing use of border walls around the world.
The analysis shows that when World War II ended, there were fewer than 5 border walls globally. Today, these security structures have popped up across the globe, with the pace of construction drastically picking up since 2000.
Immigration was the top reason for constructing border walls, possibly due to the various migrant crises that have unfolded in recent years.
