Context
- An API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) is the component in a drug that produces the required effect on the body to treat a condition.
- According to Statista, India is the world’s biggest supplier of generic medications, and produces over 60% of thew world’s vaccinations (see Source tab).
Methodology
The USP Medicine Supply Map covers 91% of finished drug product and over 44% of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturers to National Drug Code (NDC) groups for drugs sold in the U.S.
